Origins
Helus was willed into existence by reality itself, a necessary force to govern the passage of souls. He was shaped not by worship or myth, but by need — a herald to gather the dead and return their essentia to the primordial well from which all life is drawn.
Description
They call him the Grim Reaper, the Final Undertaker, but Helus wears no face. He does not walk the worlds, nor speak to the living. He is the hush that follows a last breath, the chill along the spine of the dying. No image captures him because he never appears. Instead, his presence is felt — quiet, invisible, inevitable — guiding the soul away from its shell. Some say the Ethereal Plane stirs when he passes, its mists parting for just a moment. To his faithful, silence is reverence, and darkness is comfort. They do not seek his blessing, only his approval — and they dare not speak his name in the open. And though Helus does not walk the realms, those who defy his will find no safety. Intelligent undead, especially liches and soulbinders, often vanish without cause. When questioned, sages whisper of Nightwalkers appearing from nowhere, silent as the grave, sent by something far older than death itself.
Dogma
The living must die, and the dead must move on. That is the order of things. No soul should linger beyond its time, and no will should chain it. Death is not cruel. It is the quiet truth beneath all things. Interfering with that truth through undeath is a crime against the rhythm of existence. Let all things end in stillness. Let the dead be released. And if they rise again, send them back.
