Transitive Planes

Descriptions of the Types of Planes

Transitive Planes are planes of existence that connect other planes together or could be used as a means of travel between points on a single plane. These are planes that are used to access two different points in space, whether the start and end points are on the same plane or not.

Parallel Material Planes are alternate versions of the Prime Material Plane that Antæra is located on. Each one is a mirror of the prime that is inherently influenced by the Inner Plane that it is most reminiscent of. For example, the Shadowlands is a version of the Prime that has been influenced by the Negative Energy Plane, while the Earthspire Expanse is a version of the Prime that has been influenced by the Elemental Plane of Earth. Anything that references the "Plane of Shadow" should instead reference the Shadowlands. For example, any spell that uses the "Plane of Shadow" to travel, instead uses the Shadowlands, and spells such as Shadow Conjuration, or the mysteries used by a Shadowcaster, draw upon the energies of the Shadowlands.

Inner Planes are distinct, isolated realms which exist outside of our immediate reality. Accessible through gates, spells, and magic portals, these planes are not directly connected to each other, maintaining their purity with only occasional overlaps of different elemental realms. The Ethereal Plane serves as the gateway to the Inner Planes, with spells tapping into the Ethereal Plane facilitating travel to these realms. Established portals often link to inhabited regions within the Inner Planes, where visitors from other realms are somewhat tolerated.

Additionally, natural manifest zones form between similar locations across different planes, creating passages that allow effortless travel. For instance, the heart of a volcano on the Inferno Sands might house a manifest zone to the Elemental Plane of Fire. At the same time, a well of corruption within the Shadowlands may connect to a Tainted forest on the Prime. These manifest zones represent weak spots in reality, bridging the Inner Planes with the Material Plane.

Outer Planes embody the multiverse’s direction, intention, and thought. Often referred to as divine, spiritual, or godly planes by many sages, the Outer Planes are predominantly recognized as the homes of the deities. While deities may reside in various locations, they find their truest expression and power within the Outer Planes.

These planes are also home to a diverse array of beings, from those who serve the deities to those who staunchly maintain their independence. To those unfamiliar with the Outer Planes, they might initially appear more welcoming and similar to the Material Plane compared to the Transitive or Inner Planes.

However, this perception is misleading. The landscapes of the Outer Planes, while they may bear resemblance to the Material Plane, are subject to the whims and desires of the powerful entities that inhabit them. The will of the deities and other potent forces can dramatically alter these planes, reshaping their very fabric to align with their divine purposes. The ability to reform and reconstruct their realms makes the Outer Planes a realm of both wonder and unpredictability, where the very nature of existence can be rewritten to fulfill the needs of its godly inhabitants.

Unclassified Planes fall into a special category where they do not follow the normal rules of the other classifications. These planes may range anywhere from being metaphysical in nature or incomprehensible to non-native minds.
