The Gallamarketh Sphere
Overview
Gallamarketh is the mercantile heart of the Outer Constellation, a brilliant sphere lit by spelljammer lanterns, crowded trade lanes, and quiet diplomatic halls. Wildspace within teems with arcane observatories, contract outposts, and chartered clerks who ensure pacts are honored from star to stone. Life here is orderly, ambitious, and steeped in tradition. Entire moons serve as campuses for ancient universities that teach law, magical theory, interplanar commerce, and practical philosophy.
On the same path as the prime world, always hidden behind the sun, drifts the Charta Nullum—an Ancient Antæran relic shaped like a twisted ring of tan-colored starmetal. It bears carvings and reliefs that no known tongue can decipher. The relic functions as the only gateway in or out of the Gallamarketh Sphere. The shell of the sphere cannot be pierced, tunneled, or bypassed. At the ring’s mouth stands a great customs citadel, raised by the sphere’s neutral council. Here, cargo is inspected, travelers logged, and ships cleared for passage. The gate cannot be moved, reasoned with, or unmade—it does not serve; it simply is.
At the outer edge of the Goldilocks Belt lies the Collar—a broken chain of ragged asteroids and cracked stone hulks held together by drift routes and makeshift docks. Overcrowded, under-supplied, and mostly forgotten, it serves as the slum of Gallamarketh. Ramshackle habitats, hollowed-out rocks, and rusting husks of ancient ships serve as homes for the displaced, the desperate, and the debt-bound. Most here live under guild contracts with terms few can read and fewer can escape. Mining syndicates extract raw stone from the belt, aided by the poor who labor in shifts too long and under lights too dim. The asteroids themselves drift in from manifest zones tied to the Elemental Plane of Earth—never ending, never slowing. It is a place where the air is thin, the gold never stretches far enough, and the only law is the writ of the guild that owns your docking ring.
Each minor world in Gallamarketh is owned in whole by a guild, a league, or a firm. These worlds are not free—visitors must follow the rules of their hosts and keep to approved zones. Travel is watched, records are kept, and disputes are handled by hired blades. The central council of Gallamarketh holds no armies, no legions. It mediates, certifies, and records. Its power lies in law, not steel.
At the heart of the sphere, the prime planet is held beneath a sacred pact, a divine edict sworn by powers beyond. No act of violence may take place upon its soil. Spells meant to wound fizzle into ash; blades will not draw blood. This law is not enforced—it is written into the land. Because of this, the prime market is open to all. Fiends, celestials, and all in between walk the same streets, argue over the same coin, and nod with respect to their rivals. No banner flies higher than the price tag. Here, the deal is sacred, and the buyer is never turned away.
Planetology & Astrology
- Type of Sphere: Star-based
- Primary Body:
- Name: Solion
- Type: Fire Body (Golden-white star)
- Spelljamming Aware: Yes
Inner Track
-
Praesium
- Distance: 94 million miles
- Size: C
- Type: scorched
- Shape: spherical
- Other Notes: Praesium is a blinding world of radiant stone and heat-shattered terrain. Its surface is constantly reshaped by solar flares and intense winds that scour the land to bare obsidian. The Vitara Consortium operates sunmetal crucibles and lens-towers across the surface, extracting volatile minerals only accessible under extreme heat. There are no natural cities—only guild-built bunkers sunken deep beneath the crust, where crews rotate in and out through shielded teleport anchors. Entry is tightly controlled, with unauthorized spelljammers repelled by automated flare-lances positioned in high orbit. One moon, Khastrin, serves as the Consortium’s primary legal and administrative headquarters. Its barren surface hides a sprawling network of underground offices, conference vaults, archive catacombs, and corporate suites. Most business on Praesium is decided on Khastrin, where contracts are sealed far from the noise and glare of the surface.
-
Ferrux
- Distance: 147 million miles
- Size: D
- Type: volcanic
- Shape: hollow-core
- Other Notes: Ferrux is a roiling sphere of tectonic chaos, its skies choked with black ash and its land pitted with magma channels. The surface is covered in forge-complexes and smelter-cities constructed atop basalt bridges and heat-shielded mesas. Fire elementals are commonplace and often employed in labor or defense. Beneath the crust, the planet’s hollow heart glows with molten rivers used in ritual alloy-binding and weapon enchantment. The planet’s lone moon, Scordax, is jagged and geologically unstable, mined heavily for rare volcanic glass and fissure-born gases.
Goldilocks Zone
-
Virellia
- Distance: 210 million miles
- Size: I
- Type: temperate
- Shape: spherical
- Other Notes: Virellia is a colossal, culture-rich world and the crown jewel of Gallamarketh. Vast metropoles sprawl across its surface, punctuated by floating arcades, crystalline towers, and impossibly vast markets where every known currency holds sway. The divine edict woven into its foundation prevents all acts of violence, making it the most secure commercial hub among the Known Spheres. Representatives from every plane and sphere do business here under the sacred neutrality of the Accord of Solion. Celestials, fiends, genies, mortals, and stranger beings trade under the same sun, watched by silent judicial constructs. Virellia has three moons: Saphae, Demeran, and Hollis, each hosting consulates, auction houses, and overflow trading grounds.
-
The Collar
- Distance: 250 million miles
- Size: varies (individual asteroids: A–B)
- Type: stone
- Shape: fragmented belt
- Other Notes: The Collar is a tangle of debris, poverty, and grim determination. It forms a rough ring at the edge of the habitable zone, where thousands of irregular asteroids drift in loose formation. Many of the belt’s stones emerge directly from manifest zones to the Elemental Plane of Earth, constantly replenishing the field with unclaimed mineral wealth. The belt’s communities are desperate and densely packed, with hollowed-out rocks converted into tenement tunnels and jury-rigged guild shelters. Laborers here work in dangerous conditions to extract raw ores for trade guilds who give little in return. Piracy, smuggling, and sabotage are common, but the guilds turn a blind eye so long as quotas are met.
Outer Track
-
Kalandrix
- Distance: 340 million miles
- Size: D
- Type: cold steppe
- Shape: spherical
- Other Notes: Kalandrix is a frigid, windswept planet of silver plains and frozen cliffs. Its terrain consists of long stretches of frost-coated grasslands broken by icy mesas and snow-filled crevasses. The surface is sparsely inhabited, except for isolated research facilities and knowledge archives maintained by the Ledger Triune. These institutes are shielded by enchantments and heated by planar vents. Kalandrix is known for being a planet of secrecy and record, where paper holds more value than gold. One artificial moon, Tallyn, orbits in a slow circuit, acting as an intake and filtration hub for visitors and classified freight.
-
Molgurra
- Distance: 390 million miles
- Size: E
- Type: frozen desert
- Shape: ringed
- Other Notes: Molgurra is a bleak and dust-laden world swept by freezing winds. Its atmosphere is barely breathable and requires magical filtration in most settlements. Guild fortresses dot the ice dunes, built entirely from enchanted stone reinforced by sigils of stability and warmth. The planet’s surface serves as a vast interplanar freight yard, where cargo from dozens of spheres is offloaded, sorted, enchanted, and redistributed across the network of planar trade routes. Massive teleport chambers and dimensional anchoring towers operate day and night, cycling bulk goods through delay wards and customs grids. The Harmonium Freight Charter, which governs all operations, specializes in long-haul elemental fuel, time-sensitive stasis freight, and bonded planar constructs. The rings of Molgurra are used as staging platforms for dormant inventory and secured vault-capsules, while underground vaults house inventory too volatile or valuable to circulate. No natural moons exist, though orbital markers are used to triangulate planar drop points.
-
Nexura
- Distance: 440 million miles
- Size: F
- Type: glacial
- Shape: spherical
- Other Notes: Nexura is a world locked in unyielding frost. Its surface is covered by an endless shell of ice, beneath which lie cryptic vaults, sealed tunnels, and secrets deemed too dangerous for public knowledge. Run by the Spiral Vault, the planet remains veiled in illusion and guarded by constructs that patrol tirelessly through the snow. Nothing leaves Nexura without clearance from the Vault, and most that enter are never seen again. Surveillance is constant, and rumor speaks of entire memories wiped from those who breach containment. Two frozen moons, Frostel and Greyne, drift in its shadow, bearing no visible life or structure.
