An adventurer waking up after the crash landing of the colony ship...

Creation Houserules

Creation Rules

When making your character, head to the Character Sheets forum in the Discord and create the character using the given template.

  • Character Level 3
  • Point-Buy 30
  • You may start with 1 common magic item as your heirloom from your previous life.

Houserules

Altered Spells

  • Simulacrum
    • Simulacrums cannot make more simulacrums, magen, or homunculi
    • Must use a Bonus Action to command, just like other companions/minions. (The bonus action is not required every round, only when changing its directive.)
    • The simulacrum is created at half the level of the target, with HP being apropriate to this adjustment rather than half of its original HP
    • Any abilities the simulacrum has may be refreshed by “reconstructing” it, which consumes the same amount of components as when it was created. This may be done during a Long Rest and does not hamper the rest.
    • Casting time is reduced to 8 hours
  • Wish
    • The only effects that are listed that can be done are spell replication and item creation
    • The other effects are soft banned and can only be done with DM approval
    • Wish can now awaken beasts, constructs, undead, and plants by elevating their sentience or giving them an artificial soul. Their Int, Wis, and Cha scores are replaced with a new score that is determined by rolling 4d6 (drop the lowest) for each. Awakened creatures may be played after discussion with the Staff Team on appropriate stats and abilities. Awakened creatures start at level 3 and may take class levels.
    • The item creation effect only creates raw building materials
    • The greater effects can only be done outside of sessions and the details must be discussed with a member of the Staff Team. They will usually require multiple casters simultaneously casting Wish for the same effect. All other requirements will be determined by the Staff Team.
  • Planar Binding
    • If you control more than one creature with this spell, their total CR cannot exceed your character level, and you cannot control more creatures than your proficiency bonus through the use of this spell
  • Ceremony
    • You cannot gain the benefit of the Wedding ceremony bonus to AC
  • Clone
    • This spell is soft banned until rules around its use can be written
  • Glyph of Warding/Symbol
    • You may have as many Glyphs of Warding or Symbols as you like within your quarters, but may only bring 1 into a mission with you
    • Any glyph or symbol cast into an extradimensional space created by an item like a bag of holding or portable hole is instantaneously dispelled when brought into a mission.
    • You cannot place a spell with a target of self into a glyph of warding.
  • Magic Jar
    • The effects of a Magic Jar end when the mission is concluded
  • True Polymorph
    • True Polymorph is dispelled at the start of the mission
    • DM’s have the option to suppress it during their missions

Misc Limitations

Limited Magic Items
Characters may only have 1 of any single magic item. This does not apply to consumables, armor, shields, and weapons.

Limited Consumables
Players may only bring a number of consumables into a game equal to their proficiency modifier. Spell Scrolls of 6th-9th level count as two consumables for this calculation. Healing potions have the same limit, but their own counter. Ammunition does not count against this limit, nor do spell components.

Rapid Chugging
Drinking your own healing potions is a bonus action, feeding a potion to another player is an action, as is drinking any other type of potion.

Magic Item Flight
A magic item that allows the user to move without expending movement (such as a broom of flying or a carpet of flying) is considered to be voluntary movement, and so provokes opportunity attacks from creatures as normal.

Magic Item Usage and Attunement Slots
Companions (minions, summons, pets, etc) do not use your attunement slots. They instead have their own slots. This being said, unintelligent or mindless creatures (such as mindless undead and animals) cannot use items that require spell completion or spell triggers to activate. IE: mindless skeletons cannot use things like wands, scrolls, or Lanterns of Revealing.

Mounts and Summons
You may bring up to two permanent magical summons into a one-shot (find familiar, find greater steed, etc.), and only a single non-magically obtained mount. This does not apply to Planar Binding.

Precast Spells
This one is more of a guideline than an actual rule. The recommended amount of precast spells coming into a session is equal to the character’s proficiency bonus (5e) or ¼ their ECL (3.5e). While this obviously shouldn’t be used for minion-spell based characters (like shepherds or necromancers), it is mainly to prevent people from abusing things like Glyph of Warding or Demiplane. This one is entirely up to DM discretion as to how it is applied.

Healing Spells
Spells that restore health points may target friendly undead, even if the spell says otherwise.
